Hello Ignis!

Even though today's house session had a blackout, but we could really see that the spirit of Ignis was not dampened by it! Great job to the new 43rd Ignis House Captain, Yam Jia Hui as well!

Yep, so as Jia Hui comes into the picture, its time the 42nd Ignis HAT steps down too! As mentioned in the slides, we would really want to thank everyone for your support all the way from:

Hello Ignis/Ixion!

Challenge Shield CHAMPIONS!

Promos are finally over! Good luck on your results!

Anyway, today's GAMES FESTIVAL marks the end of the challenge shield and we are really really really proud to announce that

IGNIS has achieved an overall first position for the games festival,
especially with notable achievements like unbeaten record for the handball, only 1 loss of the mini tug-of-war and others! There are simply too much to be mentioned about!

most importantly, we hoped that you guys had some real fun today by shaking some fats accumulated from the promos period and had solid bonding time with your house! THREE CHEERS FOR OUR VERY OWN IGNIS PEOPLE!

the challenge shield has finally came to an end and do check out for the overall winner of the challenge shield which will most likely to be announced next week! thank you for your undying support. you guys simply form the best house among all!

Yo Ignis!

Hope you guys really had a great weekend. School's reopening tomorrow, so its gonna be back to lectures and tutorials. damn.

But anyway, just a quick update!
We got 1st for the intra-school shooting competition with Terra and Lignum behind us! Yay!

Many thanks to our participants from Ignis and we are really proud of you guys.

Also, do continue to support us by participating in the upcoming Track and Field Meet.

Hello IGNIS!

We are really proud to announce that we have officially ended in 4th place for NE cup, catching up from last position to 4th position with only a small margin behind the top 3 houses. We just want to say:

A BIG THANK YOU TO
- the help you have provided for the 41st and 42nd Ignis HAT.
- the cooperation you gave us for the Racial Harmony Day when we pestered you guys for your poems, giving us a high score of 19/20 and allow us to achieve 2nd place for the competition.
- the "SINGA-PORE" you guys shouted during the performance which made us really touched and grateful for your participation.

and also much heartfelt thanks to the people who have helped us for our NDC skit, especially people from 09SH18 and JH406!

We hope that you have enjoyed the hard work put in by 42nd Ignis HAT (especially the Nobody dance >.<) and hope that more of you guys can join us in our IGNIS productions next time.

Also, 3 cheers to AQUA for winning the NE cup and AERIUS for winning the NDC performance!

sorry that we've been away and not updating! but we've been busy with the past few competitions and elections etc.

a quick run through!

we're still in 2nd place for challenge shield!

our road run position has been moved up to 4th! there was a calculation error in the scores. let's strive on together, ignis! we can do it (:

the next few challenge shield events include: shooting club's competition, trck and field meet and games fest - so please do sign up for these events and give ignis your support!

(phong had a dream that we came in first for challenge shield!!!! ok he's going to kill me when he sees this but IGNIS WE CAN MAKE THAT DREAM COME TRUE if we work together!)

2nd place for total defence day quiz! thank you to everybody who took the time off to do the quiz, your help is much appreciated!

IGNIS HAS COME IN SECOND FOR THE TOTAL DEFENCE DAY QUIZ!!!
To all of you who dilligently logged into KM to do the quiz, you guys are awesomeeee. see this is what Ignis is capable of when we all put in some effort for the house! and let's keep this up.

As for the SPARKS! Challenge Shield event by S&T, one of our teams finished 2nd!! Good job! (:

In other news..for the recycling competition we are chugging steadily along, with regular contributions by sh18 and about a zillion cantabs contributed by wan er from 08a02!! great job guys. as for the rest of us, let's jia you together!! see what we can achieve when we all fight for Ignis!

1. TOTAL DEFENCE DAY QUIZ
This comes under the NE Cup! By now your House Affiliates/class OGLs should have given you some information on this. You can find the quiz on KM > Class Server > My Assignments.
It's only 10 questions and will take you less than 10 minutes to fill up, so please do take the time out to do it! Every quiz done and every question counts. For those of you who've already done it, the Ignis HAT is really really grateful for your help!

2. NJC 40th Anniversary Run
I know most of you dread PE and running, and all the more coming back on a Saturday morning, but please do come! I know some of you are saying "but I run so slowly anyway no difference" WELL THAT ISN'T TRUE. every runner for Ignis makes a difference. I'll let you know the details of the scoring system when I get it.

C'mon Ignis we're the biggest house in terms of numbers, let's do this well!

Unlike the other 2 competitions posted here, this goes into the Challenge Shield competition, which is a different house based competition. this is 30% of the Challenge Shield, so if we do well in this it will put us in good standing!

3. Recycling Competition!
Bring whatever paper products and can tabs you've been saving up at home and can't wait to get rid of:

- newspapers
- magazines
- old assessment books (PSLE and Chinese O's/A's are over! you can dump these on us!)
- old textbooks and workbooks and worksheets

Please bring these along whenever you can! Just bring a bit every day, consistently!

Your HAs will pass on the message from us when we firm up details of how to collect these items from you and lessen your load. Haha.

Hope things are going well for everybody.

To the SH2s - haha it seems like we all hit the ground running when school reopened and we're all mired in homework and stress. but keep on keeping on! (:

To the SH1s - even though you guys will learn your real classes on Thursday, I hope you'll always keep Ignis in your hearts!

To the JHs - jia you!

On a side note, Council Applications open on the 25th of February! If you're fired up about making a change to school life, this is your chance to step up and shine! Listen out for morning announcements about applying and for information sessions on NJC Council.

Maybe we'll see one of you running for the position of 42nd Ignis House Captain (; But however you want to contribute, in your own special ways, Council is going to be a good avenue for you to make a difference.

HELLO TO ALL ISADORIANS!

I hope you've had a fun-filled two days so far - I know it's been a lot of administrative talks and stuff which isn't always the most interactive, but I hope that Mass Dance and Informal Walk-in have been a blast! Your OGLs practised very very hard during the holidays to put up a show for you guys and I hope it was spectacular for you guys (:

For the JH1s (and 3s, even though we don't have a JH3 class officially you guys are always honourary Ignisians :D) I hope by now you are settling into your classes nicely and making new friends and not yet swamped in homework.

NOTICE: PLEASE REFRAIN FROM DOING MUTUAL SWOPS. The whole point of Orientation is to learn new things and try out different experiences! Hello to all Ignis Orientation 09 OGLs!

Thank you for signing up to be an OGL. Being an OGL is going to be fun - you're going to meet lots of new people, goof around, get high, scream cheers, learn dances (even if you can't dance, like me) and basically have a good time. But while we're having a good time, there are some logistics and responsibilities that your role entails.

As an OGL the new incomers first impression of the school is very quickly shaped by you. I cannot understate this! Be fun, lively (without being obnoxious), caring, spontaneous, thoughtful - qualities which we have definitely seen in all of you during the OGL selection process. And Orientation largely dictates house spirit as well! It is crucial in determining support for house competitions in the following year. and with you guys as Ignis' OGLs, 2009 will be our year! (:

3. OGL Expectations

Just so everybody is on the same level, here are the key features of Orientation:

o OG-bonding sessions: think of good icebreakers. Through these you will need to build up House Spirit and a good intra class bond. Affirmation things to build trust? E.g. warm fuzzies or smth
o House sessions (probably 2 in total: one to teach cheers and one for playing games): hype them up, build loyalty to the house. You are expected to organise and carry out the house sessions now!
o Station games, External Hunt: build a healthy competitive spirit (not cutthroat kind of competition, but not a heck-care lethargy either) – because points are given for this, and games like these do somewhat help build up their long-term involvement in house stuff
o Mass Dance: encourage them to break out of their inhibitions, help those who seem to be lagging behind
o War Games: rah-rah them!

The storyline goes along to the theme of Broadway. Each house is a musical production company, competing for some great prestigious award.
